Inquisitiveness comes naturally to most children. Curiosity is innate and is the reason children are eager to know so much at a young age. It drives youngsters to learn new things and makes them feel confident with completing tasks out of their comfort zone. This is why it is important for parents to do their best to encourage their children to be more curious and to foster the inquisitive nature that they were born with. Here is some advice from an independent sixth form in London on how to raise an inquisitive child.

Start education early. Learning is the best way to keep your child curious about the world around them. The more they learn about it, the more they will feel their curiosity grow. Starting education off early means they will have a better understanding of their environment as well. Take opportunities to teach your child new things at home. Starting education off early doesn’t necessarily mean they have to be sat in a classroom. Family days out to museums or reading books at home will give them the kickstart that they need.
Ask them questions. Pick their brains from time to time and ask them questions that will force them to provide complex answers. ‘What is your dream job?’ is a good example as it will encourage your child to mentally explore all the possibilities of where their curiosity could take them. The more questions you ask, the more likely your child will ask questions back. Go on adventures regularly. Every day can be a new one! The simplest of activities can become some of the most memorable ones. Try and see the world from their point of view, some activities will still be new and exciting to them. This is another great way to raise an inquisitive child.
