The benefits of nursery for children

This is a collaborative post

When we think of the education system, we typically think of nursery, primary school and secondary school. Whilst the latter is compulsory, not every child will attend nursery or playgroup given that it is down to personal choice. It has become a popular option for childcare as children are occupied all day in a convenient setting. However, nurseries are a lot more beneficial than thought. Every child is different, but the experience of a nursery offers a lot to little ones. Below are a few benefits of a nursery for children.

Confidence. For most children, nursery tends to be the first time children are away from their parents for long periods of time. Attending a nursery means your child will be able to gain the confidence to be without you which will be necessary once they start full-time school. Spending time with different children as well as adults will allow them to build their confidence one step at a time.

Learn new skills. This is the time for your child to pick up skills they may already not have. Through their activities of colouring, they will learn how to use a pencil correctly as well as expand on personal skills such as tidying up after themselves, washing their hands and hanging up their coat.

Social skills are crucial and can also be introduced here. Your child will learn the correct way to behave around new people and how to communicate well. It will allow for both you and your child to have a good routine. This establishes a sense of security which is vital for young ones.

Whilst your child is at nursery a few times in the week, it’ll allow you to have some well-deserved me time. Looking after a toddler can be exhausting so allowing your child to spend some time amongst children their age whilst you have some time alone leads to the best of both worlds!
